NEW YORK: Paris Hilton was very disturbed after her security personnel found hidden recording equipment during a routine check of her Dubai hotel room. Imdb.com reports that the socialite is in the Arab nation for her reality show “My New Best Friend Forever”.

But the star’s trip turned sour after her bodyguards discovered she could have been filmed throughout her stay at an exclusive Dubai resort when they stumbled across a secret video transmitter.

“It was some sort of transmitter by all accounts. We’re not sure what the device picked up or whom it was transmitting to. But it did leave Paris very jittery. Everyone she has come into contact with during her stay in Dubai has been gracious. We’ve been told there are some quarters where there is anti-American feeling,” a source told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper.

“Paris’ security has been increased and hotel staff are investigating how the device came to be in her room,” added the source.

She belongs to a family of achievers who don’t think acting or modeling is a  career worth pursuing. But that didn’t stop Poonam Bajwa from entering films. If modeling was just a means to earn some fast cash, her passion for cinema goes well beyond mindlessly signing movies and getting fat checks.

‘‘Today, I have learnt that acting in films isn’t about getting more footage on the frame. It’s about showing how much you can capture the audience’s attention within the span that you are allowed,’’ says the Pune-based actress, recently seen in the V V Kathir-directed Thenavattu.

‘‘I did want to be a writer or a journalist, but I am glad to be a subject for journalists to interview today,’’ she addsIf Seval, her debut Tamil film, cast her opposite Bharath in a demure role, her forthcoming films, Katcheri andDrohi, will reveal her vivacious side.

‘‘Katcheri is a light-hearted film. I am teaming up with Jiiva for the second time (after Thenavattu), but I have a bigger role this time,’’ she reveals, adding that she has gone in for a complete image makeover for her other film, Drohi. ‘‘It is a double hero subject, directed by one of Mani Ratnam’s former assistants, Sudha. It is hard to believe that a woman has come up with such a dark action story. I act opposite Vishnu in it,’’ says Bajwa, who will begin work on the film in August. ‘‘It has an interesting story where I play an incurable romantic,’’ she continues, adding that she would like to do as many commercial roles as experimental ones.

The former Miss Pune believes she enjoys a special connection with Chennai when it comes to her career‘‘I got my first modeling assignment for a Chennai-based sari store. That was when I came to Chennai. And then, one film offer followed another. It is perhaps this that makes me do more films in Tamil than in other languages,’’ she shrugs, grinning

IF reports in the industry turn out to be true, in a short while from now, Rajinikanth will be found creating a clone of himself, Ajith, an international don, will be chased by another Ajith, and Sarath Kumar will feature both as father and son on the silver screen.

If Suriya, who featured as dad and son in ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, is soon expected to play a double role in ‘Aadhavan’, Prashanth will, in a while, take on the role of siblings, like he did in Jeans, with ‘Ponnar Sankar’.

Actor Jiiva is trying two highly diverse roles in his first double action flick, ‘Singam puli’, even as comedian Kanja Karuppu, is working on a double presence in ‘Aaaru Manamey Aaru’.This seems to be the season of dual roles in Kollywood, with most of our leading actors, opting for films that feature them in two roles. While some have openly declared that they are playing a dual role, speculations are rife that a few film crews are keeping it a secret.

A few heroes, take Jiiva or Suriya for example, are taking care to make their roles look and feel different, while a few heroes are trying to pass muster with identical looks in both characters, example, Vijay, as dad and son in ‘Villu’.How much ever the effort be, this does seem like the season for actors to double their efforts for every film. One only hopes it translates to a double delight for the fans who watch their movies too.

Vikram’s next: There’s no confirmation of this news, simply because it is unclear as to which project Vikram will take on after ‘Raavana’. Another big looming question is when Raavana will actually complete schedule.Vikram, who is awaiting the release of his ‘Kanthasamy’, has two projects lined up: one with Selvaraghavan and the other with KS Ravikumar. It is widely believed that the actor will complete KS Ravikumar’s film and quickly succeed it with Selva’s movie.
